Yep still in pokey sigh

Hello my little chickadees

How are we? Oh for goodness sake do stop whinging. I’m fed up with lockdown as well. I’ve been at it since 4th March! Come on we can do this.
Have a laugh at my expense. Go on. You know you love to.

Day 62 Monday 18th May
Well I never got up until well after 8am and it was lovely to lay in.
I had a quick shower and updated the blog ready for posting. As it happens it was a doddle and posted straight away. I’m well pleased with the stats

Not too shabby.
Toast for brekkie this morning as I wasn’t very hungry.
I spent the morning working in the garden and dug up an overabundance of bluebell bulbs for my new neighbours.

Lunch was salad as it was quite hot. The afternoon I did a bit more digging but my back didn’t like it. I can’t wait for my gardeners to come back and do all that back aching digging. After 10 minutes my back sez “Are you kidding me or what?”

I spent the afternoon in my swing seat reading and I had a bit of a doze in the sun. I was in the shade so all good.

At 5pm it got really chilly in the wind so I did a bit more weeding to warm up and then came in. Early dinner of casserole steak sweet potatoes and red onions. It was actually quite nice.

I caught up on the news and spent the evening watching TV. The best of Chelsea Garden Show was on which I love. Obviously, it’s been cancelled this year but it was good to look back on past show clips.

Early night for me with a cuppa and bed with kindle (of course) Night nighty.

Day 63 Tuesday 19th May

Well I forgot to put the bin out yesterday ho hum. As I was awake at 6am I said good morning to Webbo and then padded outside in my dressing gown and slippers to put it out. It was lovely listening to the birds so I took a cuppa outside and joined them. I also had a brain storm and cleaned my downstairs windows at the back. They were disgusting and I can’t wait for my window cleaners to come back to work and help me out. I know, okay? I want a cleaner environment which has been wonderful for the last few weeks. Clear skies and so silent on the roads. I also (like everyone) want things back to normal whatever that might be.

Breakfast is chocolate chip cookies – nah just kidding it’s chocolate chip Weetabix 40 grms as per my allowance from slimming world.
Then it’s a shower and a zoom meeting at 11am with my Slimming World friends. Oh yus I know how to live this high flying lark. Tesco delivery this afternoon but I’ll be working in the garden in the meantime.
Well I certainly got a lot done in the garden. Some digging but I’ve taken some buddleia cuttings to plant up in the wild flower garden and I must admit it is really looking wild at the moment without my gardeners to do the hard digging. It is what it is though and… don’t forget to wash though handies and cough into the crook of your elbow.

Lunch was a salad with crab sticks. Nom nom. I do miss popping down the coast for some fresh seafood. All the tastier when we get to do it I guess.

The afternoon I spent lazing in my swing seat reading. I’ve finished the psychological thriller and I’m now reading Alice Teal is Missing. I’ll give you an update when I’ve read a few more chapters. It’s very ‘unputdownable’ That’s a new word for the Oxford and English dictionary but I’ll let you use it if you want no charge. Just give me credit Okay?

Dinner I decided on salmon baked with chillies and garlic and veggies. I had a late night as I was watching catch up tv and a couple of films, then it was up the wooden hill to Bedfordshire for me. Nighty night, see you tomorrow.

Day 64 Wednesday 20th May

Well I was up most of the night because of all the water I drank yesterday because it was so hot. At 5.30 I was wide awake listening to the birds and watching the wonderful sunrise. I tuned into Webbo on Radio Ashford and he agreed with me about the sunrise. I walked downstairs in the nuddy as it was so early and put the kettle on. Probably not a pretty sight when my skin isn’t ironed but who cares? I don’t and the birds are only interested in the food I put down for them. The don’t usually feed until about 8am anyway so I had the garden to myself if I wanted it. It was beautifully warm and lovely to feel the sun on my skin. I can fully understand why people go to nudist camps in the summer, although I’m not an exhibitionist though to save you asking any more questions.

I had a late brekkie of bacon, tomatoes, scrambled eggs and baked beans if you’re interested and yes the beans do make you become unsociable in polite company. I know how to talk proper like when I have to. Then it was shower and make a list for the day. I don’t know why I bother to be honest as I never look at them and just follow my instinct. As it happened I did practically faff all because it was too hot. However, I digress and I’m jumping ahead of myself. I sat in the shade under the parasol in between bouts of digging. It’s the only exercise I can do at the moment. I refuse to go for a walk outside where I am as there are too many dickheads out there. How do I know this? I’ve watched them from my back gate when it’s been open. Neighbours have come up to the front garden trying to socialise with me when I’ve been in the front garden, One of them actually was coming in the gate to show me her new granddaughter. She was quite offended when I stopped her by shouting “NO stay there!”
I just shake my head. No wonder we have the highest number of the virus in Kent. Yes, it shocked me too when I read it.

Lunch was a ham salad and of course bottles of water and yes bottles is pluralised. Is that a word? Well if not, you can borrow it from time to time if you want. During the afternoon I checked on my veggie seeds and they are now ready to pot on. I’ve got some compost but now need some more. That will be a job for tomorrow early morning me thinks.
The rest of the day I spent dossing about in the garden drinking pink diet lemonade and pulling a few weeds. It’s got to be done.

After dinner of fish (haddock fillets) with poached egg and asparagus tips I settled down in the swing seat with a cold beer (yep) it’s good to have a refreshing cold beer and watched the birds feed. They’re used to me now if I don’t make any sudden moves. I do wish the pigeons on the fence would get a room. They’re flipping noisy. Which reminds me I haven’t seen Cyril of late. I hope he’s alright. I even bought him a squirrel hotel to feed at but it sits untouched.
At 7pm I came in for a zoom meeting which lasted 90 minutes and then went back outside and lapped up the cool evening with another cold beer which are only 4% but very refreshing, and watched the sun go down. Who needs the tropics when you have the wonders of nature on your door step. I’m going to leave you with that image and say nighty night.

Day 65 Thursday 21st May
Well it was another early wake up again. Just after 4am. What’s this malarkey all about? Anyway, I dozed and woke up just after 6am. Another beautiful day in Christendom as they used to say, so I took my cuppa outside. So peaceful because of the quiet and just the birds for company. A quick shower. Check out the hair roots and moustache (Or not!) and strawberries for brekkie. The 8pm doorstop clap is on today.

Yep I really look this bad :)

New look!
No hair-no roots!
What d'ya think?

Come 12.15 while I’m gardening I get a facetime call from my friend and we spent nearly two hours talking. It’s great to catch up. Then this afternoon as I’m relaxing with my kindle in my swing seat my granddaughter facetimes me to update me on all her news. Absolutely desperate for a hug as am I. We talked for over an hour and only stopped there because both our phones were running out of charge.

Dinner was a chicken stir fry with veggies and greek yoghurt for that creamy taste. Washed down with a cold beer for a change. I love those little stubby bottles of French Biere and only 4% so it fits in with my Slimming World regime nicely.

8pm and I was outside clapping with my neighbours. Each week there seems to be more and more join in which is great. I stood chatting to my new young neighbours whilst obeying the social distancing. I was in my garden and they were in theirs. They should have been getting married this weekend but it got cancelled because of the lockdown so they are going to have a musical/drinks evening in their garden on Saturday. So many plans have been disrupted and it’s such a shame.

9pm and I’m watering the garden and it’s still hot. It’s going to be a sticky night tonight. I read my kindle until well after midnight and so it’s good night from me but no good night from him.

Day 66 Friday 22nd May
I totally lost track of what day it was when I woke up. The night was hot and sticky and I was awake several times. I didn’t even need a wee! I was just hot. It was 6.20 and after wishing Webbo good morning I needed to get up for a wee so I stayed up and made a cuppa. It’s very overcast and humid this morning so probably a good day to carry on with the gardening. I caught up on face book and then had brekki. Do yer wanna know what I had? Oh go on then, it was baked beans on brown seeded bread (Tesco substitute for my brown wholemeal 800gm instead of 400gm) and scrambled egg.
I spent the afternoon weeding and digging over the pets little cemetery and decided to move the huge cement gravestones we made. I’m going to let it grass over and put a couple of engraved silver pet grave markers instead. There are some lovely ones on Amazon that I have ordered. It got so windy out there that I came in around 4pm and put my feet up. It was so cold out there even in the sun.

Dinner was roast chicken with veggies and a couple of stubby bottles of Biere. I could get used to them. There wasn’t much on TV during the evening. Monarch of the Glen has finally produced its final episode which I’m gutted about. My intention is to visit Scotland at some point as it’s such a beautiful part of the country. Well I’ve ‘done’ Ireland, Wales and all down the west country including Lands End. Scotland is all that is left of the real extremes.

Oh I did watch the reruns of the Chelsea Flower Show with Monty Dom and then took my kindle to bed to read. Nighty night and see you on Monday for the start of another week in lockdown.

I really enjoyed this! It’s hard to remember what day it is! Or to remember to put the bins out when ever day feels like a Sunday! The clapping does bring everyone together but I’m amazed how people just wander up the gardens when it’s best to stand in one place!

I’m glad you’re continuing this.
